Disclaimer: I do not own any other the characters. Oh, and one thing I forgot to mention last chapter. In this versions, Snape is sexy. he's fit, has abs, charming, and his hair isn't greasy, okay? He's perfect...but still a jerk. And he's still a Potions teacher and Lupin is still the Dark Arts teacher.

Difference - Chapter Two - A Trip to Hogsmeade

Hermione walked to Hogsmeade with Harry, Ginny, Ron, and Lavender. Hermione felt like the fifth wheel yet again. The Spring sun was shining and the sky was a brilliant color of a soft blue.

Hermione slipped away from the group and hurried into the nearest book store. She needed to buy a few new books to keep her occupied. She searched the shelves of the nearly empty book store and immediately saw a good looking book that was on her book list, but is was one shelf too high. So Hermione stretched on the tips of her toes, trying to touch the book to get it, but did not succeed.

And then suddenly, an arm stretched from behind Hermione and grabbed the book. Hermione turned around to be inches away from Snape. She naturally blushed immensely and quickly moved out of the way. Snape raised an eyebrow as he then handed Hermione the book she was reaching to get. But before he did, he took a look at the book. It was a muggle book. Shiver by Maggie S..

"A romance book, Miss Granger?" was what he asked.

Hermione was getting mad just by his presence. She yanked the book out of his hands rudely and moved on to the next book shelf. Hermione picked out a book off of the lower shelf. Scribbler of Dreams by Mary E. Pearson.

"Um, you're welcome," Snape said, waiting for at least a 'thank you' from Hermione.

"Professor, what are you doing here?" Hermione suddenly asked him as she turned around and looked up at him with a serious face with a hint of anger in her eyes.

Snape relaxed his features and gave Hermione a blank face. "I'm supervising anyone on this side of town and, Miss Granger, you're the only student over here," Snape pointed out.

Hermione shook here head, rolled her eyes, and walked over to the nearest table to begin to read one of her books until everyone was ready to return back to Hogwarts. Surprisingly, Snape sat next to Hermione.

"What!?" Hermione hissed at Snape, noticing how Snape was observing Hermione.

"I was thinking, why aren't you with Potter and Weasley, Miss Granger," Snape said as he crossed his hands across his chest.

Hermione closed her book slowly and felt herself come close to tears. Why did Snape have to bring them up!? Why? Hermione looked anywhere but at Snape who was still looking at Hermione.

"Do I always have to be with them, Professor?" Hermione asked in a small voice.

"Well, no, but it's just different not to see you with them," Snape said innocently.

Hermione sighed deeply. "I'm not their friend anymore," Hermione said as she shook her head.

Snape raised his eyebrows, shocked. "Oh?" was all he said.

Hermione sighed and just got up from the seat. "I don't want to talk about this with you," she said as she went to the counter to purchase her books.

Snape was not surprised. Not too many students wants to talk to him period. Everyone hated him and he hated them. But there was something different about Hermione Granger. She didn't mind very much talking to Snape at all. It was like she just couldn't stand him, and yet she talks to him. She stood up to him, the first time anyone has done so, and she thanked him.

"It's about time I escort you back to Hogwarts," Snape said as he looked at the nearest clock.

Hermione rolled her eyes. "Sure," was all she said as she followed Snape out of the shop, thanking the store clerk for the books.

They walked back to Hogwarts, alone. It felt like it was taking them forever even though they were moving at a fast speed. Hermione thought up of something to talk about.

"Professor...I was thinking....," Hermione started.

"Yes, Miss, Granger? Spit it out," Snape said harshly.

Hermione ignored the harshness in Snape's voice. "Can you tutor me in Defense Against the Dark Arts?" Hermione asked, flinching as she was waiting for Snape to go off on her or something.

Snape froze in place and raised his eye brows. Then he turned to look at Hermione.
"You...want me to teach you Defense Against the Dark Art...?" he asked with a shocked face. He knew everything about the Dark Arts and he always wanted to teach it. he was speechless.

"Well, yes...that's what I asked. Well, you don't have to...I'm just slipping in that class-"

"Shocking," was all Snape said as he interrupted Hermione mid sentence. "I'll do it. Meet me every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday after dinner," Snape said as they then entered Hogwarts grounds.

Hermione was so happy to hear this, she went out of line. "Thank you, Professor!" she squeaked as she attacked Snape into a hug.

Hermione froze, knowing what she just did. Ah, hell. But she took in Snape's scent. Mint and rosemary. Lovely. But Snape had frozen also. He's never been hugged before. He noticed immediately how good it felt and then how still Hermione's body had gotten.

Hermione jerked her body from Snapes with surprise. "I'm sorry," was all she said as she hurried away from Snape and into the castle and up to her room.

Snape was still frozen in place.
